Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up pallets of goods, supplies, and to keep storage areas orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide underneath the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version consists of telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet needs to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not just slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This model is best in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one type of reach truck is required inside warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to utilize and could increase productivity while maximizing available storage space.
