Used Caterpillar Container Forklift Thousand Oaks

Used Caterpillar Container Forklift Thousand Oaks

A container forklift is particularly utilized to load and unload huge, heavy freight containers. They are utilized to shuttle freight off and on trains, ships and truck beds. Container forklifts are the most durable and largest types of forklifts manufactured. They need to be very maneuverable on uneven terrain and have sufficient power and torque to raise large containers safely. Usually, they have large pneumatic tires and heavy-duty diesel engines.

A container forklift, like all types of forklift, utilizes forks to be able to lift the containers. Forks should be positioned to ensure the load is secure during transport. Various kinds of container forklifts are just designed to raise the containers several meters off the ground. Other container handlers utilize a different method for carrying containers to greater heights. A container handler uses an apparatus attached to the front of the vehicle to clamp down on either end of the container like jaws. The machine is counterbalanced with weights to maintain stability.

Carrying and transferring containers is the main purpose of a container forklift. Regular forklifts do not have sufficient reach for working in ports. The forks are rated according to the most weight they could handle. The capabilities of the forklift should be posted prominently in the cockpit and should never be exceeded.
