In 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. During that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed a lot of customers and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, since the need for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machinery to meet many applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Because of the economic downturn in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values. They partnered up along with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation in the workplace, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was just decided after the initial few years following the sale. Therefore, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to lessening wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC equipment are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machine together with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machinery are great for limited access areas or small areas in all kinds of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require in order to travel around the work site and job area.
